Art Reception

Karen Fieldstad has been creating art for over 40 years, currently living in Topsfield and inspired by the landscape of New England. Her style is abstract/impressionist with a focus on nature. This exhibit showcases work in both Karen's fluid/flow style and her 'putty knife' style.

The fluid/flow paint method is more recent, started at the end of 2018. Karen pours paint onto canvas and moves it around by either tilting the canvas or using a putty knife to spread the paint. She is really enjoying the surprising results!

Karen's "putty knife" work is somewhat abstract landscapes, created on large canvas, using a 3-inch yellow plastic putty knife and acrylic paint. She do not use brushes or any other media applicator in this painting style. Karen has been pursuing this technique since 2015.

This exhibit will be on display in the Meeting Room from now until June 28th. A reception will be held on Monday, June 17th from 6:00-7:45pm. Stop by to meet the artist!
