Celebrating 150 Years of the Topsfield Town Library!

Tuesday, December 104:00—7:00 PMLibrary groundsTopsfield Town Library1 South Common St., Topsfield, MA, 01983

Everyone is cordially invited to join the staff and Trustees of the Topsfield Town Library as we celebrate our 150th birthday on December 10, 2024. We will serve cake, offer entertainment and a discussion of library history, highlight the library's art collection, and unveil a community art project to mark the occasion.

The TriTown Rock Band, "a performing peer-mentored ensemble for Tri-Town students with and without disabilities in Grade 6-12" will perform from 4:15-5pm. Classical guitarist Scott Ouellette will perform from 5-6pm.

On December 21, 1874, a committee of "concerned friends" established the Topsfield Town Library, merging the several subscription-based libraries in town (including the Topsfield Library Society's collection from 1794). First town librarian Rev. Anson McLoud called the library's establishment the "crown and completion of the free school system" and a "perennial source of gratification, improvement, and enlargement" in the town of Topsfield.

We encourage you to submit your birthday wishes and favorite memories of the library using the online form on our website.
