Saving Seeds with Gretel Anspach of the MMGA

Wednesday, April 36:00—7:00 PMZoom

The Topsfield Town Library Seed Library has re-launched! The Seed Library is another way the Library seeks to push boundaries on the definition of what “library” means, while remembering and acknowledging Topsfield’s roots as an agricultural town. The seed library is free to use for the entire community. The concept of the seed lending library works like this: patrons “borrow” seeds from the library, plant them in a pot, in their home garden, or in a community garden. Then, the borrowers can save the resulting seeds from their harvest and bring them to the library for others to use.

During this presentation hosted by the Topsfield Town Library, master gardener Gretel Anspach will talk about the reasons for saving your own seeds and learn some of the basic techniques for ensuring genetic purity. We will include discussions about the home garden plants from which seeds can be easily saved and stored for future use.
