Thursday, May 76:00—7:00 PMActivity RoomTopsfield Town Library1 South Common St., Topsfield, MA, 01983

At this class, you will learn how to identify select wild edibles (e.g. mushrooms, berries, greens, or even trees) via a slideshow and in person samples to see and feel. You will see how to identify these seasonal finds and how you can then incorporate them into your food or drink!
About the Farm: F-Word Farm (Farming, Foraging, Fermenting) was started out of a love for the environment. F-Word Farm is an Earth centered farm that practices organic, no-till farming focused on building eco-systems & soil. Every small batch of vinegar is handcrafted primarily from F-Word Farm grown or foraged ingredients, and some second-use ingredients destined for the trash. They contain “good for you” gut microbes, acquired through a long slow fermentation period. The owner is also passionate about teaching fermentation methods to reduce food waste, foraging to promote appreciation for local food, and farming to protect our soil & eco-systems.
About the presenter: Sharing my excitement for fermentation and my quest for people to eat local/reduce food waste is the passion of my life. I worked in the corporate world for a time, but knew there was always something else calling me. I went back to school to study nutrition and start my own farm. Learning how to preserve food in a way that’s not only easy, but also so important for our health, gave me the faith to make the leap.
Being able to share the knowledge and skills of the past, combined with some of the health discoveries we are making in terms of gut health/ fermented foods, sets my soul on fire. Come and catch fire with me.
